![]() The lake’s warm water is an ideal breeding ground for the Rift Valley flamingos. The lake is 35 miles (56 km) long and 15 miles (24 km) wide and contains salt, soda, and magnesite deposits. This volcano next to the lake is a guarantee for beautiful views. The lake is known for its huge population of Lesser Flamingos. Lake Natron does have some wildlife, but this is not the main reason to come here. Not surprisingly, there are only a few creatures that can survive in this lake, among which flamingos. The landscape here is of unprecedented raw beauty a dramatic lava desert with a high alkaline lake in a depression created by the Rift Valley. Next to that, the lake contains a high level of natron, which makes the pH level of the water go very high (pH of 10.5, for comparison ammonia has a pH-level of 11.6).
